Excluded and Victimized City Makers: Economic, Social and Cultural Rights of Dalits Among Dalits

The office of Janodayam was usually filled up with poor Adi Andhras who came to seek guidance and support. A few retired government servants from the community were also present, providing voluntary service guiding the poor. There were college students who came to learn from the community on placement assignment. Everyone had a story to tell me. Most of the storylines were narratives of hope. However, underneath these hope-filled narratives there was anger and despair due to everyday humiliating experiences of discrimination and exclusion. This scenario prompted the author to get into the shoes of the community and bring out to the outside world the beauty as well as the dehumanizing life situations of Adi Andhras, the city makers. This is the first scientific study of Adi Andhras of Chennai.
